Our story began over 80 years ago in the small Mexican town of Tacámbaro, Michoacán. Our great-grandfather discovered his passion for baking, and it quickly became clear that he had a special gift. His bakery earned a reputation as one of the finest in Tacámbaro, known for its artisan bread, baked fresh each day in a traditional wood-fired oven.
Pictured here is his son, Reynaldo, our grandfather, continuing the family tradition by preparing that day's fresh bread by hand.

Inspired by generations of baking, our parents made the journey from Mexico to North Carolina with a dream of sharing the flavors they had grown up with. In the early 2000s, they opened the first Mexican bakery in Winston-Salem, creating more than just a bakery. They created a place where families could gather, celebrate, and enjoy a taste of home.
Together, they built something special. Reynaldo Jr. continued the family's tradition of baking authentic artisan breads and pan dulce, while Lolita brought her own creativity to the bakery by introducing beautiful cakes and desserts.
Their hard work, dedication, and love for the craft laid the foundation for what would become our family's next chapter.

After years of working alongside our family, we opened our first bakery together in 2007. It marked the beginning of our own journey, allowing us to share our family's recipes, traditions, and love for baking with the community.
As our bakery grew, we were honored when we were approached with an offer to purchase the business. After much prayer and thoughtful consideration, we decided to sell and begin a new chapter focused on raising our four children and pursuing other opportunities. Although we stepped away from bakery ownership, our love for baking and the traditions passed through our family never left us.
For years, we carried those memories with us, knowing that one day, when the timing was right, we hoped to return to our roots and continue the legacy that had always been part of our family's story. Today, we are excited to share those traditions with our own children, who naturally carry the same love for baking in their hearts.

Today, that dream has come full circle with Artesano Bakery. More than 80 years after our great-grandfather first began baking in Tacámbaro, Michoacán, we are honored to carry on our family's baking tradition, now spanning five generations.
At Artesano Bakery, every loaf of bread, every pastry, and every cake is inspired by the generations who came before us. We are committed to preserving authentic Mexican baking traditions while creating a warm, welcoming place where friends and families can gather and make memories of their own.
Thank you for being part of our story. We can't wait to share this next chapter with you.
